Samsung LN32A450 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
- 24 March 2008 A stylish design with hidden speakers keep Samsung HDTV Series 4 large Flatpanel one of the best 720p HD options around. Updates on last year's models include a 6ms response rate that is faster, more expensive 1080p models for smooth motion, even with the rapid development of sports and action films, and a higher dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1 (up to last years 8,000:1) for deep blacks and crisp lines. Note that this definition applies to arrangements for Series 4

Pro: Outstanding, crisp HD picture, color, contrast excllent; solid response time
Cons: Slight pixelation with poor quality SD signal
"After an enormous amount of research, at last in this series. I was really interested in the slightly lower price Toshiba Regza, every shop, but in my area were out. While shopping around, I realized that this Samsung in particular appears to be the image of a high standard. Finally I decided to take the plunge 3 days, and I was not disappointed at all. In the past I have had several issues with LCD TV, which is why we have so far had been holding. I know that these problems are in the minds of many people, so everyone will:
.
Proposal Response
—–
The first and most important, is response time with fast motion. I am absolutely driven nuts if the TV can not "celebrate" the proposal (ie, if the image smears, or fractures, when high speed elements are zooming across the screen). The item you're looking for in an LCD monitor that is said about this is "response time" and whether or not you want something 8ms. I think this TV is 6ms (the specifications say Sammy's on this site, but has several shops as 8ms). In any case, this TV "holds" the rapid movement of images, even very good. In the store, which celebrates the best of any comparably price movement patterns, including the Sony Bravia around $ 1k, and strong about the same price. When I got home, I tried it with Star Wars ep. 1 and the sequence of the battle of Narnia. Both looked still using a DVD player with HDMI Upconverter at 720p. You will not see ghosting issues with high definition images.
.
Color and contrast
————
Color fidelity and contrast are important to me, and LCD are known to have trouble producing deep blacks and bright whites. This is not a problem for this series. It produces excellent color, and did so out of the box with the factory set. I had no touch at all. I try to go to "Cinema" mode, which has some nice features, but without that, everything seemed great.
.
Standard Def version
———-
Another major problem with the monitor and LCDTVs is something that is not the native resolution tends to look blurred or "fractured." I was very concerned about this because I have a bunch of old DVDs of shows like The Simpsons and Seinfeld, so that will never be broadcast in HD. In addition, many television stations have not yet made the transition (even though most of them). Here the TV was as good as I have seen, though not perfect. The good news is that the sources SD Upconverter Seinfeld DVDs look as excellent – as good as regular TV, if not better. The bad news is that your VHS tapes will be blurry and pixels on a set of this type. I have a lot of VHS tapes left, and so this is not a big problem. Regular SD sources with this set vary in quality. For example, the DS version of Animal Planet had a special the other night that almost looked HD. At the same time, flip channels CNN, and looks terrible. I suspect that this is the broadcast quality and not the whole. . . otherwise all channels would be terrible in SD. So when you get a good source CW SD, looks good.
.
I would recommend this set. After connecting my HD cable today and watching things like CSI: Miami, Las Vegas, and Miss Congeniality, all in widescreen HD, I can say that I am absolutely amazed by this series of HD performance. I do not think that you will be able to find a better HD TV for the price. "

Good image quality watching local HDTV, DVDs and video games. This 32 "LCD HDTV has 3 HDMI inputs, S-video, composite video to component video and optical audio output.
The HDTV is easy to configure, with an automatic feature that finds all the HDTV channels in your local broadcast or cable. The black and contrast are very good levels. This screen features 720P progressive scan.
The remote and menu software are well designed, so you do not have to go too deep into the menu to adjust the settings. Prices in Atlanta area range from $ 800 to $ Fryes Electronics for 712 HH Gregg. Prices online appear to range from $ 700 to $ 1000.
Since the Samsung 400 series was launched in March of 2008 it is a price range. The Samsung Series 4 Samsung is the value of the line, compared to the highest of Samsung Series 5. However, this monitor seems to have better image quality of some of the other 32 "LCD TV we've reviewed in the range of $ 800-900. This price and quality makes the Samsung 4 series a good value for the dollar.

NOT WORTH THE HASSLE
I bought this T.V. 8 months ago. Twice I had difficulty getting it to turn on – no sound – no picture. Now I can’t get it to turn on no matter what I do.

This model bought a few days ago from H & H Gregg for $ 807 "for sale". It is not clear why they are discounting a model that just came out this month for $ 92 off the list price when last year the model is still selling for more than that, since the new model has more specific techniques in several important respects.
Samsung bought because many reviews indicated Samsung was worth the extra money in image quality cheaper 32 "models. The picture is excellent. Documentation is good, as it should be. However, there are a myriad of images that the controls are very likely the afficianado, but bewildering to any neophyte. Unfortunately, the documentation does not give you a real idea of where you want to depart significantly from the default settings. You just keep experiementing to find what you like. There are several "automatic" that presumably make changes to the configuration of the images on the basis of the material and the input source, but frankly I could not say whether and how it was working.
There is also a feature that is supposed to improve the quality of the images at the highest level (just as some 'unclear), but the feature can be enabled or disabled, and is only available in the "dynamic" mode, not "regular" or "movie" mode. Again, because this is so is in no way explained in the manual.
However, if the picture is excellent in most conditions and probably a little 'to adjust the default settings is sufficient most of the time. I did notice a little 'shadow in the scene of action of a drama of PBS. There was also some weird flickering in an HD broadcast of an NHL hockey game, perhaps because the white ice is on the screen twice. This has not happened in any of the other sporting events – the LEB league basketball, golf, NASCAR etc – all that seemed impressive.
In this model, the speakers are hidden under the image and sound quality is a little 'weak. But then for any sound that matters much to you, the output can be sent to your external speaker system.
Set up was easy. The set seems very much sharper than the clunky CRT set that it replaces. Only problem is that the first attempt to automatically detect local over the air HD stations not find a partner who has made a second attempt. The "Favorite" channel designation feature is a good way to focus on a few stations you may want to look up.

Beware of Poor Warranty Service
The set is excellent when it was working but warranty service is pathetic. 3 months old and it started to have a totally white screen upon start up.

You won’t regret it
I bought this TV 3 months ago to use as a monitor for my computer and PlayStation 3 80GB.
I am very pleased with its performance, I currently run it at 1360 by 768.

Excellent performance for the price
I recently purchased this TV on sale for $488, and for this price, this TV is a bargain. The picture is clear even at 720p, with vibrant colors, reasonable (though not perfect)…

Good Value HDTV
I’ll admit, I’m a big Sony devotee and usually love their products – but – I bought a 32″ Sony Bravia at Sam’s Club a couple of months ago and was quite disappointed.

The item was offered as model #LN32A450 which is the model I wanted. The model delivered was #LN32A455 which is the REFURBISHED version of the model advertised.
